What’s Your Why?

Posted by Eclipse Med on Jan 30, 2019 3:21:00 PM

Whether you are an entrepreneur, an employee, a leader of a team, or are looking to find clarity on your next move, your WHY is the one constant that will guide you toward fulfillment in your work and life. Eclipse (and my family) is my Why. I started Eclipse over 25 years ago because I wanted to have my own company, and I knew the industry had an opportunity for new leadership and a guiding star. I was lucky enough to combine both of my Whys by starting the company with my brothers, and son.

I wanted to bring to market innovative technologies that raised the bar for medical devices and help make physicians successful and profitable in their practices, while also delivering exceptional results to patients. By doing that, I knew we as a company could help to improve the lives and well-being of others, the physicians just starting out in their own practices, and the many patients seeking help to look and feel their best.

Simon Sinek, author of Find Your Why, explains that our purpose in life is to find and do the things that make us smile, laugh and forget time. Even if we aren’t sure yet, move into the exploration and experimentation phase of life and enjoy the journey. That truly defines the past 25 years for me at Eclipse – experimentation and enjoying the journey. Over the years, we had some great successes and others that didn’t always pan out. But through it all, was experimentation and a journey towards a purpose. It’s why I still get up every morning and look at new opportunities I can help make a reality for our customers.

So many of the physicians and providers we work with never started out to have their own practice or even be in the healthcare field. But through experiences and finding their Why, they were led to become physicians and soon began living their purpose-filled life.

Once you understand your WHY, you’ll be able to clearly articulate what makes you feel fulfilled and to better understand what drives your behavior when you’re at your natural best. When you can do that, you’ll have a point of reference for everything you do going forward. You’ll be able to make more intentional choices for your business, your career and your life.
